orange u happy

this picture was taken in april 2011 of a one and lonely orange growing on a wild citrus tree just off of our back porch

the tree had been there for as long as we had, and to be honest, we weren’t even aware that it was an orange tree

on it, another fruit never grew

and years later, the tree was taken from us by a hurricane named ian

all was not lost

one year after the picture was taken of that singular orange (which was not very tasty, btw) we memorialized her with an illustration

our digital art prints are created by collaging, seamlessly, the photographs we take of the sculptures along with landscape and nature images we capture with our cell phones when the urge strikes

this illustration is called “orange u happy” and in the early days, was called “hello orange” (which were the exact words dale uttered when she first saw it)

a face was given to the orange from one of our sculptures

like most of our illustrations, this one has had a few iterations

we’ve changed it up a little over the years

this is her in her current form in april 2026

we sell prints of our illustrations at the Franklin Shops on First in downtown, fort myers, fl

and are working on offering them right here on our website and that is going to happen really soon

so, to answer the question, yes

we r happy
