Masking Tape Sculpting with Jeff Ocasio

Jeff Ocasio has become an experienced and sought-after masking tape sculpting instructor. His classes welcome artists of all levels, from beginners eager to explore their artistic abilities to experienced artists seeking to embrace a playful and whimsical artistic approach where you will learn the basics of sculpting with masking tape.

During the 3-hour class, you will be introduced to the techniques of how to layer and manipulate the tape to achieve the desired shape and texture using masking tape, glass stones, and other materials to create your sculpture.

It's Mango Time – Making a Mango with Jeff Ocasio
Create a charming, free-standing mango sculpture with a playful style. This mango sculpting class welcomes students of all artistic levels. Jeff’s teaching style is relaxed, conversational, and the class is limited to only six students for personalized attention. By the end of each class, you'll have your own one-of-a-kind masking tape-sculpted mango as well as an instructional handout on how to seal and paint your mango character at home using easy-to-find materials.

This class will begin with a glass bottle project, allowing Jeff to go over the basic techniques of sculpting with masking tape and give students the opportunity to create a free-style sculpted design on the bottles, which can later be displayed as a bud vase. After mastering these basics, students will move on to learn the building blocks of free-standing mango sculpting with masking tape, paper, wire, and glass marbles for the eyes The sculptures will be roughly 7 inches tall.

We have four new classes scheduled next season, from January to April, 2025, at Big Arts on Sanibel.

Interested in hosting a private class in your home or clubhouse?

Here’s what to know:

Jeff is available to come to your location and teach a group of 4-10 of you and your friends and family (Lee County only). The cost is $75 per person. All that is needed is a table with seating enough for everyone, including Jeff. He’ll bring all the materials. You choose the class project ---they are all listed above. Each of them introduces the basic techniques of sculpting with masking tape, and everyone will have learned a new art form that can be continued to be explored on their own. You can expect the class to take about 3-hours long. At the end of the class, all will receive an instructional handout on how to seal and paint their sculptures, on their own, with easy to find materials. Private classes are reserved and paid for by an emailed payment link via squareup.com (our payment provider).
